Uma Galera is an eclectic band that embodies the melting pot of cultures and sounds Miami is all about. The group’s music runs the gamut from ska and funk to a more Latin-flavored sound, often within the same song. It’s the perfect fit for a festival that celebrates the music and sounds from Africa to the new world and back.
“One of the highlights of the 2016 Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance, for me, was getting a chance to see Uma Galera in an unexpected time slot - this band from Miami got rescheduled for making their Trumansburg debut from after midnight to the lead-in for Saturday night’s headliner at the Grandstand, and they totally owned the set. The crowd was hot, the band was rocking, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing them again.”
“The best of this Latin-tinged lot was Uma Galera. This seven piece was the one band confident enough in its grooves to not feel the need to constantly ask the fans how they were feeling. It was obvious that most of the assembled Friends of Nature were feeling good, dancing, vibing out, and communing with the music”
